Hello guys,

I know that it would be a painful task for people shifting from Snow Leopard  OS X to Lion OS and losing their Clamshell mode. After a bit of research, i found the following solution so thought of sharing it with the world.

If you want to use your Macbook Pro (on battery , unplugged from AC) with an External monitor, you should read the guidelines stated as follows:

For Lion OS:

A) Your macbook pro should be connected with Power and Lid should be closed and computer should be connected with External Monitor

1) Download InsomaniaX 2.0

2) Open the DMG file and Drag the InsomaniaX application (Moon like icon) to Applications folder.

3) Now InsomaniaX 2.0 is installed

4) Double click to run, make sure that “Moon Sign is Enabled” and in Menu, you can see “Enable Lid Sleep , Enable Idle Sleep”.

If not, then “Disable Lid Sleep and Disable Idle Sleep” would be visible, make sure you disable them

The InsomaniaX menu should look like as follows:

5) Restart your System

6) Open the Lid of Macbook pro, Wait for sometime until Lion OS detects both displays

7) Make sure InsomaniaX 2.0 is ON ! , Take out the plug of macbook pro. If your computer sleeps, Go to System Preferences – > Power Settings and change it to Never Sleep on Battery Mode

8) Close the Lid and Enjoy working on Macbook pro without plugging it in to AC directly
